(( The priest snorts. Who is he to tell Horus how to regulate his emotions?
He also grabs a handful of paper towel and lays some of it out in a dry sink, then waves for Horus to come over. ))
Try to be still while I get some of this glass out. It may hurt a little.
(( The bigger pieces he can carefully extract with his fingers. Anything smaller will have to wait until they're settled in somewhere with some actual tools. ))
(( It might not come to mind, but hunters of any pedigree are taught to sew: they often work alone and have no one but themselves to stitch up their wounds. He hums thoughtfully, pickking the glass shards and dropping them into the paper towel in the sink. ))
[The question almost sounds defensive, but that's just the last of Horus's anger and, though he won't admit it aloud, fear sneaking out through his voice. He huffs out a little sigh right after speaking and lowers his gaze to the sink.]
Never mind. Don't answer that. I wanna believe it's possible too, so we can get rid of him.
[It just brings up the thought that, if there is a way, Set could find it first. And he could end Horus's or his father's life permanently. That's the trade-off for nursing such a powerful hatred.]
(( Emmanuel hopes it's true. IF not... what happens to all these deities when the sun expands and envelopes the Earth? Do they still continue on in nothingness? Do they somehow exist outside of space and time? Who knows. Mortal minds aren't meant to, he's sure. ))
I mean dead-dead. If he's in Duat then he'll still be breathing down Dad's neck, and Anubis shouldn't have to deal with him either.
[Wait... right, Emmanuel doesn't know the stories from the facts.]
Dad's the lord of Duat and technically he's already dead, Anubis guides and protects the souls of the dead. He's my cousin. [Adopted brother, half-brother, bro, they have a lot of different bonds.] As long as Set's got a soul, he can keep coming back and they're stuck with him if he doesn't. So I wanna kill his soul.
(( He nods, listening attentively. Learning about his adversary has always been important to Emmanuel. Knowing about one's enemy saves lives. This is the same, but perhaps on a much larger scale than any venture he's been involved in before. ))
Seems like there's got to be a way, right? Like you said. But if anyone ever knew how, it's been lost to time. The oldest of us can't actually walk the earth or communicate anymore so there's a lot we might not know.
[Horus wiggles his nose and scrunches up his face, getting a feel for how much progress Emmanuel has made on the glass. Feels like most of it is out.]
I'd settle for sealing him somewhere but again, only done that with human souls.
(( Emmanuel pulls out the last of the large pieces and takes a moment to scrutinize the side of Horus' face. He takes another paper towel to gently dab at some of the blood for a better look. Then he hums to himself with a nod. It's they best they can do for now, so he'll leave it to Horus to wash his face up. ))
[They've known each other for a matter of hours and they're already acting in tandem without much communication about what to do next - Horus just knows from Emmanuel's nod that it's time for him to soap up a piece of paper towel and clean the cuts.]
The earth and sky, the air, the sun, the waters of creation... they were all gods. Those first two are actually my grandparents, Geb and Nut. But they've - I don't know if they chose it or it just happened, but they've sort of been absorbed into their physical manifestations. We can still feel them but that's about it.
That's another thing we don't know, since no one can communicate with them anymore. Dad says one of the other big ones, Ptah, can be "awakened" - [Complete with finger quotes.] - but you really don't want to unless it's 100% necessary.
[Horus rinses his face and dabs it dry with another paper towel. There are still some fine pieces of glass sparkling in his cheek, but anyone who doesn't look too closely could mistake the whole thing for a bad case of road rash.]
Hey, are you still holding up alright? Anything just starting to hurt or getting worse?
(( The change of topic jars him. Maybe because he's so interested in learning about these deities he's supposed to be fighting alongside with. He's up and walking and, until they're secure, he's not really too worried. If he wasn't up and walking... well, that would be a different story. ))
[Tough guy. Not just for a human, either - he hasn't made a single complaint after a pretty serious crash.]
Good, I'm gonna hold you to that.
I know Dad gave you a bunch of info on Set but since he's apparently going full psycho right out of the gate - any time you're not with me, the crazy weather's something you wanna look out for. It'll never rain, but clouds and thunder and lightning and wind out of nowhere mean trouble. He uses it like his introductory fanfare or something... drama queen...
[Horus rolls his good eye with the utmost disdain.]
And you know about his hair, right? He might be shapeshifting or something now, we don't know, but the red hair's a dead giveaway.
(( Complaints won't get them anything. They won't make the aches and pains go away. A handful of medicine and a hot bath will go much further in remedying those than whining about them will.
Emmanuel does take a moment to check his reflection for any sign of injury he might of overlooked. No cuts or bruises, nos visible signs of concussion or any related trauma from getting jostled around. He's probably bruising under his clothes where the seat belt did its job. He'll check that later, privately. Modesty and all that.
He isn't watching Horus during this little examination, but he listens intently, even humming to show that he's paying attention. ))
Yeah, I know about the hair. Can he cause the other weather events if it's already raining?
Oh yeah, he just can't make it rain himself. Rain brings life, and all that.
[After what they just went through, Horus finds himself not all that eager to leave the bathroom even with glass still embedded in his face. He hops up to sit on the counter while Emmanuel checks his own reflection, watching him in the mirror instead of directly.]
Oh, and if he ever gets you alone, he's definitely gonna try to seduce you. Just a heads up.
(( Emmanuel takes a moment to rinse any of Horus' blood off his hands and drying them before nodding. ))
Once we find a place, we'll need to get some supplies.
(( Necessities since they lost all their luggage (clothes, toiletries), a rental car since Emmanuel's pretty sure there's no salvaging Horus' car in a timely fashion. ))

That question, though, gets his eyes burning with loathing again.]
I don't know. It's never been done before - not to one of our souls, anyway. He's the genius who figured out how to kill one of our bodies for good.

Everything ends. There has to be a way.

Famous last words!
A worn and tired tactic that won't bear fruit. I have no such earthly desires.
(( He's pretty confident in that assessment.
Little does he know...))He must be used to failure by now, right?
lmaoooo
Horus jumps down from the counter and turns away from the mirror to keep his expression hidden from Emmanuel.]
Heh. Yeah. You ready for part two of this trek? We should probably get moving.
