[Amusement plays across Osiris's face. This really is a taste of his own medicine.
Having given the envelope to Emmanuel, Osiris has only an empty briefcase and his cup of tea to carry over to the seat across from Enma's, and even the tea has gone cold without him taking a single sip.]
Remind me, Enma - have we met on this side before?
I prefer to avoid it when I can. This isn't my most comfortable form.
[The obvious implications in Enma's offer immediately pull Osiris away from small talk and bring a probing look to his eye that belies the faint smile on his face.]
Which makes it quite the coincidence that you seem to have been here at just the right time to overhear - most of our meeting? All of it? I would guess now that you were here even before I arrived.
Enma folds his hands in front of him on the table and draws in a slow breath. ))
I've heard talk of a disturbing alliance. If such rumors came to me, one so wholly uninvolved, I suspected that they had reached your ears, as well. I also strongly suspected you and yours would not sit by idly.
No, I've never been comfortable allowing myself the luxury of inaction when it comes to Setekh. Now that I've received confirmation of this alliance from more than one source, the work has really just begun.
[Going from one intense conversation about this right into another briefly leaves Osiris exhausted enough to let his weariness show - he pinches the bridge of his nose and massages it lightly for a moment before continuing.]
Setekh wouldn't begin something like this idly. If he's willing to share the spotlight for as long as it takes to draw eyes to him, his aim can be nothing less than the Abrahamic God's throne.
(( If Set's goal is the throne of the current reigning king... What have all the lesser kings and those even less powerful to lose? If a madman like Set were to take that kind of power... It would be doom for all of them.
Enma leans back and breathes out.))
I don't want to lose my job. There's no purpose for an afterlife of torment if life itself is torment. As such, you have whatever support I can offer in your efforts.

I'm at the table by the restrooms.
(( And if Osiris happens to turn, he'll find a nondescript young man in a striped sweater and dark blue jeans giving a little wave. ))

(( He spares a glance to the cup in Osiris' hands and lifts one curious brow. ))
Would you like a fresh cup of tea?
