He'd really never interacted with anyone before the way he did Taraga. It was nice and kept things fresh. Already he could feel himself being lighter as he reached to take that offered hand and even to bring it up to press a kiss to a knuckle.
"Let's be adventurous. I've spent a lot of time behind a desk lately."
"Okay. We'll take my bike then." Since Taraga drives like a maniac... He just wanted to make sure his now-confirmed cop fling didn't have the authority to write him up for it.
"I never said I was a cop. Just that I can't do anything about traffic violations." He laughed though and lowered their hands, content to just hold him like this.
"I have a habit of going too fast myself too though."
"Never said you aren't a cop, either," Taraga points out with a smirk. "I have a spare helmet so you don't have to worry about that."
For a second, he just gazes across the table at Miles. It's funny how much he missed the guy in his time away. It's funny how he didn't realize it until they ran into each other again.
"Have you spent much time in Southern France before? Shall we get married tomorrow or just continue living in sin?"
"Well, I'm not a cop. I can tell you that very easily."
He chuckled then considered his questions. "Honestly not a lot of time. Though if you're from there that must mean you may still have family there. So if we're going to be having our honeymoon we should get married for your family, no?"
Miles grinned after then leaned forward like he was sharing a secret. "But if you are the one I was to live in sin with it would be well worth it."
"If you're serious... I know someone who works at la mairie. We could get in as soon as tomorrow to tie the knot." Is he serious? It's hard to tell with those sparkling eyes and that playful grin that won't fade. Is Taraga wild enough to marry a veritable stranger? Is Miles daring enough?
"Is that only because the office is closed now?" He laughed softly but it sure seemed like they were just going to do this. Impulsively get married to each other. Strange how it didn't feel wrong actually. It felt like this was how it was supposed to be? "Otherwise we could run there after dinner."
He nods and lifts up his free hand, index finger extended upward. "Bingo! It's only because the office is closed now. One phone call and we're in tomorrow. I guarantee it."
"Nothing like spending our last night as singles sinning, hm?" That fingers that was pointed upward drops down, trailing lightly over the back of Miles' hand. "I'll text my friend."
"Is your friend going to be confused by your sudden marriage announcement?" That would be funny actually now that he thought about it. Taraga suddenly showing up with him to marry him.
"Until you became a free spirit with a... Ah! I need to get you a ring!" How could he forget that? Obviously he'd have to find him one after dinner now.
That gets a blink and then a laugh from Taraga. "Listen, if we can't find a set tonight, I'll take an IOU on the ring. Maybe we can find some we like on our honeymoon."
"Deal. We'll look tonight and if we don't find one then we'll look again later." He looked down at the hand he was holding, conveniently the hand he'd put the ring on in the first place. "Your hand will look good with a ring on it though."
Absent-mindedly, he strikes the back of the hand he was holding. He could see Taraga looking good in either thing really. Gold or platinum. Humming, he considered it a moment then...
"You should have platinum. You feel more expensive than I am as a real treasure. I'll wear gold."

"I told you marriage was our fate. I planned to leave Wednesday. It's not far by train. Or if you're feeling adventurous, we could go on my bike."

"Sinning is something I'm very good at. But I'd change my ways for you."
no subject
"For you I'll commit myself to sin a little more to match you changing your ways for me."

Apparently this was happening. Well, he couldn't say he regretted it. There was just something about Taraga that he was so drawn to.

Pulling the hand that isn't being held back, Taraga rests his chin on the back of it. "I guess we should figure out if we're gold or platinum people."
