November/December/January holiday post. Here are some ideas:
  • snow: first snow of the season/ever, making snowpeople, forts, or snow angels, snowball fights, snowed in
  • warm: hot drinks, warm blankets, crackling fires, busting out the winter coats and socks, baking in a cozy kitchen
  • holidays: decorating, picking out a tree, preparing the big holiday meal, exchanging gifts
  • activities: shopping, cooking, sledding, ice skating, cuddling with someone special
  • new year: par-tay!, toast, countdown, midnight kiss

"Me too. But I'm especially weak for dancing with you."

This feels like some scene out of a romcom. Everything working together to form the perfect atmosphere for two people trying their hand at an actual romance. Everything unimportant fading to the background while Seung's focus hones in on Jay. The music and chatter are just in the background for them, for their moment, for their dance.

Maybe... Maybe he's been missing out all this time by eschewing romance. Or maybe simply be eschewing it with Jay specifically. Seung can't imagine wanting this with anyone else. He enjoys the way the light seems to soften everything, the way it makes Jay glow. He savors the way Jay moves with him. And hopes to surprise him a little with a small dip.

"I bet you say that to all the girls."

This feels like a trap. He feels like he's getting swept up in the charm and the allure that is Seung. The cheesy lines that sound so smooth coming from him. The way he smiles. The way he moves. The cadence of his voice. Jay's getting taken in by it all again, but it won't get him this time. He's watching for the trip wires and the bear traps under the leaves. And if he does make a misstep and get caught, he'll gnaw off his own leg to get free this time. He can't let the potential trap that is Seung break him again.

And yet he smiles like this is, at best, a very distant thought. He dances with Seung and lets everything else fade to the background. He lets himself feel like the main character in some ridiculous, cookie cutter romcom (Is this the start of their happy ending? Is this their last happy moment before the main conflict of the movie starts?) with the lights and the music and the people watching, or trying not to watch. All of these elements coming together to make an absolutely magical evening. It feels like it would be a waste of all this if he didn't let Seung dip him.

If not for their rocky history, this would be perfect. No, fuck it. It is perfect.

Is weird that Seung feels similarly that this is a trap? But he's the trap and he knows it. He's waiting for the trapdoor to swing open, to say or do something so incredibly stupid that he can't recover from it, to fall through the door and lose Jay forever. That thought of that, of losing Jay, is terrifying. And that scares him, too. Why should another person be so important?

"Oh, yeah, you know I dance with girls all the time," he muses with a note of laughter in his voice. "All that free time I have is spent dancing with them."
